saler.ai™ Glossary

Glossary

This page defines the core GEO / SEO / AI-visibility terms saler.ai uses — definition questions are the citation format AI answers reach for most. Every numeric detail matches the methodology page and docs; where they conflict, the newer statement wins.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)

The practice of optimizing a brand to be mentioned in AI-generated answers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, etc.). Complementary to, not a replacement for, SEO; the goal is to have the brand appear in AI answers.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Optimizing for traditional search engine results pages (SERP). AI overviews often cite top-ranked content, so SEO is a foundation for GEO; the two work together.

AI Visibility

How often a brand is mentioned across AI-generated answers — the core object GEO measures. saler.ai accumulates this as a time series by brand × AI engine × date.

Brand Mention Rate

The share of sampled prompts in which the brand is mentioned, stored in bp (basis points). Counted over all prompts — a different methodology from the visibility score, not to be mixed.

Visibility Score

Rank-weighted overall visibility, methodology version vs2: only samples that produced an AI overview enter the denominator. Stored in bp (0–10000).

Share of Voice (SoV)

Within a given comparison set, brand mentions ÷ mentions of all brands (including itself). The denominator includes the brand itself; when it is 0 we return null (not computable), never substituting 1 for 0.

bp (basis point)

A 0–100 score is stored internally as 0–10000 integers to avoid floating-point accumulation error; divided by 100 for display.

Rank Weight

A mention at rank ≤ 3 scores 1, rank ≤ 5 scores 0.8, anything else 0.5; not mentioned scores 0. Used to compute the weighted visibility score.

Sampling

Data granularity = brand × AI engine × date, sampled once per day (cron: UTC 01:00 = 09:00 Beijing time). What an engine said today cannot be retrieved tomorrow; unsampled days are permanently missing and cannot be backfilled.

Comparison Set (peerIds)

An explicitly declared set of competitors, given by the caller together with the brand itself. Required — no 'default: everything in the database' fallback, which would make a report's denominator drift with the database.

Comparability

Comparable only within the same market + same prompt version. Cross-market or cross-version sets get comparable = false; that number must not be used as a client conclusion, internal reference only.

Engine Slot

ChatGPT / Perplexity / Gemini / Claude, internal keys chat_gpt / perplexity / gemini / claude. Unsupported slots error out — we never substitute ordinary search results (SERP) for an AI model's answer.

Raw Sample vs Derived Asset

Raw payloads are deleted after 7 days; derived metrics are retained permanently. Sample data counts but is not delivered as conclusions (is_sample rows, sample-watermarked, must not be delivered).

null vs 0

null = not computable (zero valid observations, or no mentions in the comparison set); 0 = a real zero. We never display 0 in place of null; an empty sampling day is null, not 0.

Subscription

Monthly brand-monitoring subscription: Starter $29 (≤3 brands) / Growth $99 (≤10) / Scale $199 (≤20). Window queries for authorized brands inside the tier are $0. Collected and invoiced by a licensed Merchant of Record (MoR).

Pay-per-use

Pay once, use once. Brand AI visibility (GEO) windows: 30 days $10.80 / 90 days $32.20 / 365 days $130.60. Open only for brands already in sampling scope; the price anchor and trial entry for subscriptions.
